A lion that escaped from Nyanga Game Park last week was reportedly sighted in the Belmont area of Goromonzi.
The sighting occurred Tuesday morning, December 9, when women gathering firewood on Musuwo Mountain, near Belmont Musuwo Primary School in Ward 18, encountered the animal.
Fortunately, there have been no reports of attacks on humans in the area thus far.
Stanley Musungwa, the Curator-in-Charge of ZimParks’ Ewanrigg Botanical Garden in Goromonzi, confirmed the reports.
He stated that teams of rangers had been deployed to track the lion and ensure public safety.
Chasi, another ZimParks official, assured the community that updates on the search would be provided as the rangers make progress in locating the escaped predator.
Residents were advised to exercise caution and report any further sightings to ZimParks authorities immediately.
