End of year bonus: Government, civil servants find each other

Zimbabwe Confederation of Public Sector Trade Unions have announced that they have struck a deal with Government which will see civil servants getting their bonises according to grade, not perfomances as earlier communicated.
This comes after a meeting between the two parties earlier today.
Today, Cecelia Alexander the President of ZCPSTU, issued a statement to the effect that Government’s earlier position has een reversed.
She said, “The workers side representatives met the Government this day the 7th of November 2022 to deliberate on quite a number of issues, chief among them is the payment modalities of 2022 annual bonus.”
Alexander said the meeting agreed that all the civil servants from Deputy Director grade and below will receive their annual bonuses unconditionally
She however said that the bonuses will be accorded in two tranches starting from November to December across the board with 50% of the annual bonus will be paid per said months plus the usual earnings.
The meeting also touched on the issue of teachers’ children fees and she said, “On school fees for teachers’ children, the meeting was appraised that all the batches for all terms will be paid in December through SSB.”
On the issue of performance advancement, the employer and the civil servants agreed that all members to be rightfully placed in their grades in January 2023 whilst the arrears will be worked upon thereafter.
