The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) revealed the names of three women arrested in connection with a viral video showing the assault of a woman accused of having an affair with one of their husbands.
In a statement released Wednesday afternoon, Deputy National Police Spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Blessmore Chishaka, confirmed the arrests of Patience Saunyama (40), Gloria Gara (30), and Juliet Charanjeru (23).
Chishaka clarified that although the video recently went viral, the incident took place in August.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of Patience Saunyama (40), Gloria Gara (30), and Juliet Charanjeru (23) in connection with the assault case that occurred at a borehole in Dzimbiti Village, Saunyama, Nyanga, on August 12, 2024,” stated Assistant Commissioner Chishaka.
Additionally, the ZRP announced that investigations are ongoing into other assault cases circulating on social media.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is also investigating other assault cases circulating on social media platforms,” Chishaka added.
The ZRP commended the public for their assistance in identifying the suspects and urged citizens to resolve disputes peacefully.
“We applaud the public for providing useful information that helps in combating crime. However, we urge people not to take the law into their own hands and to seek peaceful methods of resolving conflicts,” Assistant Commissioner Chishaka concluded.
