The Zimbabwe National Road Administration (ZINARA) has reviewed upwards local currency toll fees effective June 17, 2022 in response to the steady weakening of the local currency on the interbank exchange rate.
Light motor vehicles will now pay $700 from $520, while minibuses will be charged $1 050, up from $780.
Buses, heavy vehicles and haulage trucks will now pay $1 400, $1 750 and $3 500, respectively.
In a statement on Thursday, ZINARA said toll fees in foreign currency remain unchanged.
“In terms of Section 4 of Statutory Instrument 32 of 2021, toll fees which are pegged in foreign currency are payable in ZWL,” reads part of the communique.
The current toll fee structure represents an effective exchange rate of US$1 – ZWL$350 which represents positive movement towards exchange rate convergence between Deserve Bank Auction rate of ZWL$338 and the more liberal interbank rate of ZQL$348 to the US$ respectively.
The residential discount per term has been reviewed upwards from $10 400 to $14 000
