ZIMRA Staff Bus in fatal road accident

A Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) Staff bus carrying members of the authority from Beitbridge to Harare was involved in a fatal road traffic accident resulting in unspecified fatalities and multiple injuries.

The ZIMRA Head of Corporate Communications, Mr. Francis T. Chimhanda, in a statement, confirmed the accident that took place on April 19, 2022.

“It is with a heavy heart that the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority wished to confirm that a ZIMRA bus carrying members of staff coming from Beitbridge to Harare was yesterday, Tuesday 19 April 2022, involved in a road accident near Corona Shops along the Masvingo Road, approximately 90km from Harare. The accident happened at around 1800hrs. The accident resulted in the loss of lives and injuries,” said ZIMRA in a statement.

The road accident occurred near Corona Shops along Masvingo road, approximately 90km from Harare. The accident is said to have happened at around 1800hours.

In his statement, Mr Chimhanda noted that the accident resulted in the loss of lives and injuries. Therefore ZIMRA is working with the relevant authorities to assist affected families.

The investigations are underway. Details of what transpired are not yet clear at this point. More details will be availed once they have confirmed with the pertinent authorities.

“Our deepest condolences go out to the families of those who have passed on and our prayers and best wishes are with those still receiving medical attention, “said Mr. Chimhanda.

Meanwhile members of the public are advised to practice caution on the roads. It has been a devastating holiday because the country had very disturbing road accidents during the Easter holiday.
