The government has taken significant steps to enhance its international cooperation in the fields of broadcasting and energy, with the signing of two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Malaysia and Mozambique, respectively.

Speaking during a post-Cabinet media address, Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Dr. Jenfan Muswere, highlighted the importance of these agreements in promoting mutual cooperation and understanding between Zimbabwe and its international partners.

The first MoU, signed with Malaysia, aims to develop cooperation in media and broadcasting, including the exchange of news and news materials, radio and television programmes, and cooperation in broadcasting technology. This agreement is expected to facilitate the sharing of best practices and experiences in the field of broadcasting, as well as promote exchange visits between officials and experts from both countries.

The second MoU, signed with Mozambique, focuses on cooperation in the field of energy, with the goal of enhancing energy supply and promoting investment in the energy sector. The agreement covers areas such as trading in petroleum products, utilisation and development of petroleum infrastructure, investment and trade in natural gas, promotion of renewable energy, electricity supply, generation, refurbishment, and transmission reinforcement.

“These agreements demonstrate our commitment to strengthening our international relationships and promoting cooperation in areas that are critical to our national development,” said Dr. Muswere. “We believe that these partnerships will not only enhance our broadcasting and energy sectors but also contribute to the overall economic growth and development of our country.”

The signing of these MoUs is a significant step forward in Zimbabwe’s efforts to engage with the international community and promote cooperation in key sectors. As Dr. Muswere noted, “These agreements are a testament to our government’s commitment to delivering tangible results and improving the lives of the Zimbabwean people.”
