Zimbabwean nationals in Ukraine have been urged to find their way to Poland or Germany, from where the Zimbabwean Government will make arrangements to bring them home.
The conflict between Russia and the United States on Ukrainian land has escalated, forcing the country to go into a virtual lockdown.
A number of Zimbabweans, especially those studying have been caught up and the immediate closure of embassies has made it difficult for Zimbabwean authorities to coordinate their evacuation.
The airspace in Ukraine has also been locked.
Government through the official Ministry of Information Publicity and Broadcasting Services Twitter handle said it will work with citizens until they are safe.
“Government has taken note of the current situation in Ukraine and the possibility of our nationals being caught in it.

She said that the Zimbabwean Embassy is making arrangements as well for those who cannot access busses that will be moving out of Ukraine.
Ukraine airspace has been closed indefinitely.
Germany has also closed its borders for security purposes during this ensuing conflict.
“Efforts have been made by the Zimbabwean Embassy in Germany to liase with German Embassy in Ukraine in relation to clearance of visas for easy passage into Berlin for Zimbabwean Citizens but German Embassies have already left Ukraine.
We therefore encourage all Zimbabweans in Ukraine to coordinate with each other and make sure everyone evacuate Ukraine for Poland,” said Amb Misodzi Chikwira.
