Zimbabwe never to be a colony again – President

Hosia Mviringi

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has once again reminded meddlesome foreign countries that Zimbabwe remains a sovereign country which will never allow itself to fall back into the hands of former colonial masters.

Speaking at the occasion to bury the late national hero Major General (Rtd) Sydney Vulindlela Bhebe at the National Heroes Acres today, President Mnangagwa was unequivocal in reminding those countries whose obsession with Zimbabwe seem to have overgrown, that Zimbabwe was not and will never be a province of such countries no matter how they continue to discuss the country in their Parliaments.

“Meanwhile, it is regrettable that Zimbabwe continues to attract unwarranted interest from our former colonizers, who together with their supremacist proxies, mistakenly think that we are provinces of their countries.

These meddlesome countries and their lobbyists, under various guises, preach democracy and good governance by day, while sponsoring and instigating nefarious activities, violence and instability in our country by night,” said President Mnangagwa.

President Mnangagwa revealed that his government was fully aware that the Western countries, as led by the former colonial masters Britain, have not departed and will not rest from their long held ambition to see Zimbabwe fall back into their hands by proxy, through sponsored surrogate political parties.

This he said was at the core of the Western strategies in Zimbabwe, yet he revealed that his government stands ready to guard and defend the gains of the liberation struggle.

“This is part of their long held , brute strategies to reverse the gains we have made in consummating our independence, self-determination, sovereignty, economic empowerment and total freedom of our people, which is now embodied in our country’s development philosophy, “Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo” / “Ilizwe lakhiwa, libuswe ngabanikazi balo” (A nation is built by its own citizens), said the President in a speech which signaled a change of attitude to the current foreign interference ahead of the 2023 harmonised elections.

Britain has in recent times made it its pre-occupation to discuss Zimbabwe at length in its Parliament in an act that is reminiscent of the Berlin Conference upon which legislation to partition Africa was discussed and passed.

President Mnangagwa is on record saying that Western countries cannot legislate for Africa. Zimbabwe is a sovereign nation which should be respected and trusted with forging its own path.

It has also been noted that Britain, in its quest to manipulate Zimbabwe ahead of Commonwealth Heads of Government (CHOGM) in Rwanda, where Zimbabwe’s request for readmission is set to be discussed, has used all manner of tricks to tarnish the country’s image, in a way that is designed to make Zimbabwe to negotiate under pressure so that she makes insane concessions.

These tactics are fully on display judging by how foreign sponsored Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in Zimbabwe suddenly become busy ahead of such events sponsoring all manner of theatrics, in conjunction with a gullible opposition in the form of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) activists.

President Mnangagwa revealed this in a statement rebuking political leaders who thrive on the misery of the people through violence and insecurity.
“This time the destabilising and violent theatrics by opposition elements are being done ahead of the CHOGM meeting in Rwanda. Shame on you if you are a leader of a political party which thrives on violence and insecurity of your people to be relevant. Shame-shame-shame on you!”
