Zimbabwe Hosts Children’s Day Celebrations

His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa hosted thousands of children and his counterparts from seven SADC Countries in celebrating the 2024 Regional World Children’s Day.

The celebrations started with a march from Chinotimba Surbub to the venue, Baobab Primary School in Victoria Falls.

The world celebrates ‘World Children’s Day’ annually on November 20 to mark the anniversary of the United Nations’ adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The celebrations were put on November 16 to avoid disturbing school programmes.

This World Children’s Day celebrations was running under the theme “Educate and skill the African child for posterity”.

His Excellency, President Mnangagwa commended the Children’s Day Celebrations day and vowed to continue supporting the rich African heritage.

” All of us African leaders have an obligation to educate our children with heritage based knowledge,” said President Mnangagwa.

President Mnangagwa further emphasized on the importance of strengthening instruments on child protection in SADC.

” Let us remember that investing in our children is investing in our future. By  empowering them, we empower the world and create a better future for all,” added President Mnangagwa.

“I call for us to avail resources to address issues presented in the Children’s Call for action. To you children I sincerely thank you for coming to Zimbabwe, here in Victoria Falls.”
