Zimbabwe Highlights Investment Opportunities at India-Africa Business Conclave

Harare – Zimbabwe’s Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Dr. Jenfan Muswere, provided an update on the outcomes of the 19th edition of the Confederation of India Industry (CII) India-Africa Business Conclave, as presented to Cabinet by Honourable Vice President Gen. (Rtd) Dr. C.G.D.N. Chiwenga.

“Cabinet received and noted a report from the Honourable Vice President on his participation in the 19th India-Africa Business Conclave, which took place from August 20th to 22nd, 2024 in New Delhi, India,” stated Dr. Muswere during a post-cabinet media briefing.

The Vice President’s attendance at the Conclave was aimed at marketing investment opportunities in Zimbabwe, following up on pending Memoranda of Understanding, and strengthening the India-Zimbabwe bilateral relationship.

Dr. Muswere highlighted the key outcomes of the Vice President’s participation:

During the Inaugural Session, the Vice President emphasized the need for increased cooperation, given Zimbabwe’s chairmanship of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and membership in the African Continental Free Trade Area.
He showcased investment opportunities across various economic sectors in Zimbabwe, including the space industry, telemedicine, artificial intelligence, and digital health.
The Vice President underscored Zimbabwe’s commitment to continue discussions with prospective investors and the need for follow-ups and implementation of agreed Memoranda of Understanding.

“The Vice President’s participation in the India-Africa Business Conclave demonstrates Zimbabwe’s proactive approach to attracting foreign direct investment and strengthening economic ties with strategic partners like India,” said Dr. Muswere. “We are confident that the follow-up and implementation of the discussed opportunities will contribute to the country’s economic development.”

The Minister emphasized that the government remains committed to creating a conducive environment for investment and fostering mutually beneficial partnerships with the international community.
