Zimbabwe Foreign Service Institute Board of Governors named

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Hon Frederick Shava yesterday, formally inaugurated the Board of Governors for the Zimbabwe Foreign Service Institute (ZFSI).

ZFSI was established by President Emmerson Mnangagwa through Proclamation 2 of 2020 contained Statutory Instrument 151 of 2020.

The mandate of ZFSI is to provide training facilities and courses for foreign serving government officers in the field of trade, diplomacy, International relations and tourism.

The courses will be approved by a board of governors.

The Institute’s Board of Governors include Ambassador M.M. Muchada (Chair), Mrs B. Musariranwa, Mr. S. Nyakotyo, Ambassador Dr. A.H. Mtetwa, Dr. Major (Rtd) A. Mutambudzi, Mr S. Nkala, and Ms Duduzile Shinya

In his welcoming remarks, Foreign Affairs Secretary, Ambassador James Manzou highlighted the twin obligations of the Institute as to train and equip Foreign Service officers with requisite skills for them to navigate a complex and ever-changing International relations terrain.

Hon. Shava praised his predecessors, particularly Dr. SB Moyo, for bringing the project back to life.

In a Twitter thread, Minister of International Trade and Foreign Affairs, Hon. Shava emphasized the importance of skilled and successful diplomats in moving Zimbabwe forward. .

“He called upon the Institute to equip Zimbabwe’s diplomats & prepare them to navigate the complex and changing world environment. The Foreign Service Institute should produce highly patriotic Foreign Service officers who are able to protect the National interests of Zimbabwe.”

Minister Shava highlighted that H.E, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, as its Patron, will be very elated to see the success of the Institute.

“Hon. Minister Shava concluded his remarks by appointing Ambassador M. Muchada as the first Chairperson of the Board and called upon her to hold the first meeting of the Board,” read the Twitter thread.
