Modester Mupachikwa became the first Lady Chevrons player to scorer 1000 T20 runs as Zimbabwe continued their quest for gold at the 2023 African Games.

The Lady Chevrons thumped Kenya by 68 runs in their final match at Achimota Cricket Oval in Accra, Ghana this Sunday.

Zimbabwe went into the match having already qualified for the semi-finals which will be played this Monday at the same venue.

However, the Lady Chevrons were seeking to consolidate top spot and get to face the team that finishes second in Pool A.

Zimbabwe managed to do that exactly after thumping the East Africans by 68 runs.

Mupachikwa led the scoring once again with a well played 40 off 40 balls while her opening patner, Sharne Mayers, put in 39 runs as Zimbabwe managed 142 for 5 in their alloted 20 overs.

In reply, Kenya only managed 74 runs as Zimbabwe matched on as group winners.

The Lady Chevrons will now take on Nigeria this Wednesday and a win in that encounter will guarantee a medal for the team.

In cycling, it wasn’t good news as the country’s sole male representative Roderick Shumba did not finish the road race after crashing out.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe are still in the two chess championships as their starters Linda Shaba and Jemusse Zhemba are justifying why they are ranked in the top 10.

The swimming finals are set for this Sunday evening with Zimbabwe poised to compete in 10 finals.
