Zimbabwe continues to attract top destination bloggers

Zimbabwe is becoming a regular destination for renowned bloggers, as it has become a proven fact that audiences love its content.
Berthold Kobby Winkler a famous Ghanaian Youtuber, blogger and Pan African digital media influencer popularly known as Wode Maya becomes the latest content creator to visit the country.
He is famed for producing edgy content, which has gained him thousands of followers across the continent.
Maya who recently bought a million dollar mansion in Ghana flew into the country this Sunday and met the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Senator Monica Mutsvangwa in Harare this Monday as part of his tourism diplomacy initiative.
Zimbabwe becomes the 25th African country he is visiting.
Maya, is set to engage young entrepreneurs in the country and shed light on the nation’s positive image on his social media platforms that has millions of subscribers.
“I’m hoping to meet with young farmers, I saw Zimbabwe has got lots of young farmers so I hope we will become one when I go back. I also hope to meet with entrepreneurs, speak with them and give them the platform to showcase what they do to the world,” he said.
Speaking with the media, after the engagement, Senator Mutsvangwa said; “I’m glad he has made our office the first port of call, he has travelled to several countries sharing experiences, and the visit comes at a time when the President is engaging youth, women and social media influencers among creative sector players, in promotion of youthful faces to publicity.
We appreciate Maya’s role on occupying YouTube space to positively image the continent against western induced prejudices,”
Minister Mutsvangwa commended Maya’s role in promoting contemporary Pan Africanism, urging other influencers to propagate development.
Maya, born Berthold Kobina Ackon in 1990, hogged the limelight in 2017 when he recorded a video in a bus with empty seats besides him while other passengers stood because of his colour.
Wode became popular in 2017 when he took a video in a bus where seats were empty beside him and other passengers stood due to his skin colour and the video went viral.
In 2021, he was claimed to be one of the Top and Most Influential YouTubers in Africa.
The blogger is expected to visit Victoria Falls, Great Zimbabwe, Matopos, Kariba and Nyanga.
