Zimbabwe Celebrates 44th Zimbabwe Defence Forces Day

The 44th anniversary of Zimbabwe Defence Forces Day Commemorations was led by President Mnangagwa today at Rufaro Stadium, emphasizing the crucial role of the military in safeguarding the nation’s security and development.

Defence Forces Day Celebrations was makef at different venues in the country’s 10 provinces.

The theme of this year’s celebrations,”Zimbabwe Defence Forces:Guaranteeing Conducive Environment for Attainment of Vision 2030.”

In his speech,  President Mnangagwa expressed his appreciation to the Zimbabwe Defence Forces  achievements over the past year, applauding their efforts in maintaining peace , unit and development in Zimbabwe.

“I commend the Zimbabwe Defence Forces for
keeping alive the rich liberation ethos as well as
the intricate principles and values deployed at
the establishment of a united security apparatus
in 1980,”noted President Mnangagwa .

President Mnangagwa went on to state the professionalism and commitment,  acknowledging the challenges posed by international  security threats, including terrorism,  cross border crimes and foreign interference.

“As part of ongoing civil-military relations, the ZDF
is implementing several community development
and assistance projects. The free health care
being offered to communities at grassroots level
is applauded and a testament that you remain a
people’s army. Well done,” said President Mnangagwa.

His Excellency called for peace,unity and continued dedication to national progress.

“Zimbabwe, under the Second Republic, is a
“Friend to all and an enemy of none.” We firmly
subscribe to diplomacy and dialogue as the
sustainable route for the resolution of conflicts,
disputes and difference.”
