National broadcaster Zimbabwe Broadcasting Commission has finished renovation works at their Mbare studios.
Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa commissioned refurbished facilities yesterday.
The commissioning of the newly built modern studios is a fruit of the government’s commitment in modernizing media in Zimbabwe.
“The refurbishment of the studios goes a long way in the promotion of free flow of information attesting to the government commitment in promoting media diversity and plurality,” said Minister Monica Mutsvangwa.
ZBC Chief Executive Officer Ms Adelaide Chikunguru said this is among the key steps in the company`s journey towards going digital.
“We selected Mbare to kick off the modernization of our studios. Our target is to have 3 modernized studios by the end of 2023. We are confident that all studios will be refurbishment and modernized by the end of 2023,” said Ms Adelaide Chikunguru.
ZBC Chairperson Dr Josaya Tayi said the upgrade was long overdue.
“ZBC Radio Zimbabwe station has been using archaic 1992 analogue production systems. The motivation is to go fully digital and use modern satellite systems,” concurred Dr Tayi.
It is expected that the modernized studios will enhance ZBC`s efficiency.
