ZANU PF Youth League is launching the inaugural flagship Heroes Day Youth Talent Search challenge which is aimed at exposing and nurturing exceptional yet untapped creative talent that is within the country`s youth.

The talent search challenge which is running under the theme, “Re-living the Liberation Struggle Through Creativity”, was conceptualised through the Youth League’s desire to inculcate the spirit and the zeal among the youth to identify with the liberation struggle.

“This year’s activities are inspired by the Youth League’s eagerness to identify, acknowledge, nurture, honour and promote artistic talent among Zimbabwean youth across all domains, and also to actively inculcate the eternal values of unity, sacrifice, and popular progress, which define the liberation struggle,” said Cde Tendai Chirau who is the Party’s Acting Secretary for Youth Affairs.

“Through the medium of ‘Edutainment’, we aim to fuse the creativity of free-born young people in content creation, with deep lessons to be gained from the legacy of bitter sacrifice, blood, sweat and tears, which brought us freedom and will forever be cherished,” said Cde Chirau.

“In the spirit of promoting our national oneness, as guided by the visionary leadership of our New Dispensation steward, His Excellency the President, Cde E.D Mnangagwa, submissions for the challenge will be accepted and fairly adjudicated in all our 16 national languages. On this note, the ZANU PF Youth League is inviting all eligible youths to participate in the *National Heroes Talent Search 2021* combo,” he added.

The talent search is a multi-disciplinary endeavour which seeks to identify, expose and promote talent in such fields as Poetry, Visual Arts, Creative Writing (Short stories and Essays), Music, Fashion Design, Dance, Drama, and a Quiz segment.

The event will be broadcast on national television and various other communication media.

Cde Chirau emphasised that the National Heroes Talent Search challenge is a national event that is non-discriminatory as it aims at bringing youth together, united by the collective virtues of the Liberation struggle.

He said Zimbabwean youths from across the political, religious, cultural and geographical divide are invited to submit their material for the competition.

Participants to the challenge stand a chance to win many prizes which include recording contracts, branded memorabilia and regalia, event products such as video shoots, musical compilations and National Heroes Special Magazine.

The only rule for the challenge is that any submission materials should be inspired by, and artistically inclined to the preservation of the legacy of the liberation struggle.

Zimbabwe is geared for the all-important annual commemorations of the Heroes and National Defence Forces Days which are celebrated yearly in August.
