In an endeavour to build, record and herald enduring legacies around the landmark achievements of the Second Republic, ZANU PF Youth League is launching a periodic magazine at its forthcoming elective Youth Conference this month.
Announcing the historic launch of the magazine, Acting Secretary for Youth Affairs in the Politburo, Tendai Chirau said that the magazine project is not a personal initiative as it will surely outlive all current and future Youth Leadership.
“The proposed ” EmpowerED Generations” magazine has been inspired by the extraordinary performance and achievements of the Second Republic as ably led by His Excellency President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa. It is out of the need to record and herald such achievements, especially on the Socio-economic front, that the magazine concept was conceived,” he said.
“The pace at which most developmental projects have been delivered under thee Second Republic deserve a special place in history. Indeed it is testimony that with the right leadership and collective will power, a lot of life-changing programs can be delivered in our lifetime,” continued Chirau.
The launch of EmpowerED Generations Magazine, which is expected to initially focus on the 4-8 May 2022 elective conference which runs under the theme, “Vision2030: Revitalise, Empower, Involve the Youth”, coincides with the election of a new Youth League National Executive Council which is expected to carry forward the goals and objectives of the project.
Among other topics, the magazine will feature the Presidential Address to the conference, Youth testimonials from successful youthful entrepreneurs in mining, agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, trade and many other business endeavours.
The magazine is expected to herald comparative developmental data from pre to post-Independence periods. This is expected to cast focus of where the ZANU PF government has done well so that lessons can be drawn, and where it has fallen short so that strategies for improvement can be fashioned out.
The name ” EmpowerED Generations” is derived from the core theme of the successive ZANU PF governments which is that of generational empowerment through such initiatives as the land reform, opportunity creation in mining, agriculture, infrastructure development, education, housing and many other socio-economic facets.
The Youth League Secretary for Information, Yeukai Simbanegavi hailed the initiative as a Youth League platform to tell the story of the New Dispensation from the youthful perspective.
“EmpowerED Generations is a Youth magazine with youth perspectives on the New Dispensation and not just a magazine produced by the Youth League,” said Simbanegavi while adding a call to the corporate world and individuals to support the magazine through such partnerships as purchase of advertising space and sponsorships.
