ZANU PF Women’s League goes for continuity, stability
Hosia Mviringi
In an act endowed with wisdom and agility, ZANU PF has chosen stability and continuity in the staffing of the party’s National Women’s League Executive Council.
The just ended 7th National Women`s League Elective Conference, produced a largely unchanged National Executive led by the National Secretary Cde Mabel Chinomona.
Chinomona is deputised by Cde Angeline Masuku from Matebeleland South while Cde Monica Mutsvangwa and Cde Maybe Mbowa retain their posts as Secretary for Administration and Secretary for Commissariat respectively.
Cdes Caroline Tsitsi Mugabe, Betty Nhambu Kaseke, Anna Rungani, Musa Ncube, Lucy Mudzingwa, Cecilia Bhebhe, in Finance, External Affairs, Security, Transport and Welfare, Information and Publicity and Legal Affairs respectively were retained in their positions.
The President, in his closing remarks on Saturday marking the end of the 7th Women’s League Conference identified the League of Women as a strategic wing of the revolutionary party, signaling the level of importance the party places on the feminine wing.
“I further pay special tribute to the outgoing members of the National Executive of the Women’s League who faithfully and loyally served in this strategic Wing of the Party,” said President Mnangagwa.
The Women’s League is expected to play a critical role in ensuring a resounding victory for the revolutionary party in the upcoming harmonised elections in 2023 having committed itself to delivering 3 million of the targeted 5 million votes for President Mnangagwa.
The current Women’s League leadership is expected to continue with ongoing mobilisation programs aimed at rejuvenating party structures, empowering women, and playing a guardian role to the recently elected Youth League National Executive.
