Zanu-PF Women’s League Conference kicks off

Party workers were yesterday finalising preparations for the seventh ZANU PF Women`s League which kicks off today at the Harare International Conference (HICC).
The event takes place once every five years.
The conference will elect new league Secretaries and their deputies from the 40 candidates who have been elected in their respective provinces. The event is running under the theme; “Total political and socio-economic empowerment for all women by 2030.”
President Mnangagwa who is Zanu-PF First Secretary will be the guest of honour and will deliver his keynote address tomorrow Friday.
At least 2500 guests are expected at the event, invited sisters from OMA Angola, Mozambique and Chamachama Pinduza.
Botswana and ANC have been invited as well.
During a press conference yesterday, Zanu-PF Secretary for Women’s Affairs, Cde Mabel Chinomona gave an update on the Women’s League’s preparedness for the conference.
“I am happy to announce that preparations are going on peacefully and extremely well and we are good to go now. I am so pleased that everything has come together for a very successful, peaceful and historic event,” said Cde Chinomona.
“Our political contestations must never degenerate into violence, No! Let us honour the departed heroes and heroines who selflessly fought for our beloved country by maintaing peace, unity,love and harmony. You end up in Chikurubhi.
As we heard towards the 2023 harmonised general elections let’s entrench democracy good governance and constitutionalism prevailing in our country and never abuse it.
“As women we are clear that we confront our challenges together. Women from faith based organisations Young Women 4ED and women in both government and civic society have been invited. We are hopeful delegates will adhere to covid19 protocol. Conference is endorsing His Excellency President Mnangagwa as the sole candidate for the 2023 harmonised elections together we will go far,” said Cde Chinomona.
The League’s Secretary for Administration, Cde Monica Mutsvangwa said women will mobilise Zimbabweans to appreciate the good works of the Second Republic.
“Our First Secretary, who is also the President of Zimbabwe, has been walking the talk in implementing the party Manifesto. We have our Manifesto as a country and we are clearly walking the talk. We want Zimbabwe to achieve 2030. As the women’s league we are working very hard to empower women across the country since they are the powerful citizens of any nation across the globe,” she said.
“Women are mobilising for 2023 to see the truth and vote wisely and not be duped by fly by night parties. We fought for our independence and we will guard it. We want to achieve vision 2030. As a league we are working on empowering the women. We are there to embrace all women. We are grateful for the support we get for His Excellency. Zimbabwe is doing well in terms of fighting the pandemic and as women we made masks to ensure people get masks,” Cde Mutsvangwa added.
The Zanu PF Women’s League elective conference is being held in the build up to the party’s congress scheduled for later this year.
