President Mnangagwa has announced that the ruling party ZANU PF has readied resources needed to thump to a resounding victory in the 2023 elections.
The ZANU PF First Secretary, who was given a renewed mandate to carry the ruling party`s aspirations in the forthcoming polls said everything needed to run a successful campaign is now in place.
In his speech, closing the ZANU PF 7th Congress which was concluded yesterday, President Mnangagwa said members of the party should now direct their focus on getting people to register to vote, and to ultimately getting them to vote for ZANU PF.
“I would like to inform you that we have secured all the necessary resources needed to run an election. We have produced regalia, it is in abundance, what is left is for us to find a way to distribute it efficiently. We are handing it over to the National Commissar for distribution,” said President Mnangagwa.
President Mnangagwa however warned members of the party who hold positions against abusing the regalia.
“We do not want to hear cases that we availed regalia, but people did not get it because a high ranking member elsewhere decided to keep the regalia to themselves. Be warned,” he said.
Speaking on Friday, Second Secretary and Vice President (Rtd) General Constantino Chiwenga said the ruling party is confident of victory as President Mnangagwa`s policies have set Zimbabwe on a path of economic development.
“While this Congress is supposed to be an elective one, the party membership, through its structures and organs had already clearly and thunderously endorsed Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa as the President and First Secretary and sole presidential candidate of the ruling party Zanu PF in the 2023 harmonised elections,” VP Chiwenga said.
VP Chiwenga said the title “ED” should now mean “Emmerson Delivers” because the President has been delivering on his electoral pledges.
“The illustrious work he has done in the last five years guarantees him a thunderous victory in the 2023 harmonised elections.
Over a very short space of time he has surpassed our expectations. May he continue to lead and guide us in the next term,” he said.
President Mnangagwa is expecting victory in the forthcoming elections, targeting five million votes.
