The ruling party ZANU PF which held its provincial elections today, has warned its supporters to disregard results and permutations circulating on social media, saying the results are being computed at the party`s National Command Centre and will be announced tomorrow.

Millions of ZANU PF supporters and admirers have been waiting in anticipation of the poll outcome, which have seen big names in the party establishment vying for chairmanship roles in the country`s ten provinces.

The anticipation has given fake news merchants a chance to try their luck and start circulating what appears to be results.

However, in a statement, ZANU PF Spokesperson Cde Christopher Mutsvangwa said voting went well across the country with no incident.

“Following the collation and assessment of reports coming to the Election Situation Room, the National Political Commissar Cde Dr Mike Bimha said voting was generally peaceful and well organised.

Counting, collation and verification of results is in process at every level of the three tier Command Center,” said Cde Mutsvangwa.

Cde Mutsvangwa said he expects the outcome to be communicated officially tomorrow.

“The media, and stakeholders are advised to ignore unconfirmed and unverified results circulating on social media platforms,” said Cde Mutsvangwa.

In some parts of Masvingo and Midlands Province, rains disturbed voting.

The two provinces were given greenlight for their election process to spillover to tomorrow.

Party supporters are hoping that the finalization of the elections will see party cadres who were campaigning for posts, finding each other and working together towards the watershed 2023 election.
