ZANU PF mourns Magufuli

Ruling party ZANU PF have sent their condolences to Tanzanians following the death of their former President John Magufuli on March 19, 2021.

President Magufuli served as the fifth president of Tanzania from 2015 until his death in 2021.
He was 61.

President Magufuli was nicknamed “The Bulldozer” for his stewardship of programs to build roads, railways and other infrastructure

In a statement, ZANU PF said President Magufuli`s death was a loss to the continent and region.

“A great statesman and loyal son of Africa, President Magufuli fits perfectly well in our Africa’s Hall of Fame who loved our people towards the emancipation of Africans,” read the statement.

ZANU PF said President Magufuli was a model leader whose ideas were homegrown.

“He was a friend of Zimbabwe and a Pan Africanist. Indeed President Magufuli won affection of the people of Zimbabwe when he fearlessly and consistently called for the removal of the illagal sanctions on our people. It is not by mistake that the 25 October Anti-Sanctions was adopted in Dar es Salaam at SADDC Summit in 2019.

Mapinduzi (CCM) and the fraternal people of Tanzania,” the statement read.
Tanzania has sworn in President Magufuli`s deputy Samia Suluhu Hassan as President.
She will lead the East African country until the next election in 2025.
