ZANU-PF National Chairman and Minister of Defence and War Veterans Affairs Cde Oppah Muchinguri has congratulated the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) on the occasion of the Party’s 8th Historic Congress.
The PCC has been a close friend of the ruling party for decades and like ZANU PF, has continuously had their sovereignty threatened by sanctions by hostile imperialist parties.
“On behalf of the Party, ZANU PF and His Excellency the President and First Secretary of the Party Cde E.D Mnangagwa, I congratulate the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and outgoing First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) Cde Raul Castro and the State President Cde Miguel Diaz-Canel on the occasion of the Party’s 8th Historic Congress,” said the National Chairman, in a recent statement.
Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri said ZANU PF stands in solidarity with the CPC and affirmed the Cuban People’s sovereign right to govern themselves.
“ZANU PF stands in active solidarity with the CPC and the entire Revolutionary people of the Republic of Cuba for their steadfast and commitment to the revolutionary principles, which has made it possible to achieve this milestone despite sustained threats and hostility from unrepentant imperialist forces which continue to keep illegal sanctions and right to self-determination.
“Indeed under the PCC the Unity and Continuity of the Cuban Revolution is guaranteed. ZANU PF remains glued to the cardinal principles of respect of states’ sovereignty and non-interference in the internal affairs of other states and hereby affirms the Cuban People’s sovereign right to govern themselves in their best interest,” said Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri.
It is poetic that Zimbabwe’s national celebration of the 41st Anniversary of the Independence coincided with the eighth congress of the PCC.
Relations between Zimbabwe and Cuba date back to 41years and the two nations have developed an exemplary relationship based on respect and mutual support.
Cuba helped the people of Zimbabwe in the liberation struggle that later ushered independence.
