President Mnangagwa has described the ZANU PF Women`s League as a strategic arm of the ruling party.
President Mnangagwa made these remarks yesterday as he presided over the official opening of the Women`s League conference in Harare yesterday.
Before addressing delegates, President Mnangagwa toured projects by the wing, which he said were impressive.
“I commend the immense contribution and milestones achieved by Zimbabwe women. I am impressed by the excellent organization you have achieved. You are the back rock of the party. The successes and inroads you have made in agriculture mining and many other sectors is commendable. I toured the exhibitions and i have asked that ZimTrade be directed to help market your products externally,” said President Mnangagwa.
The Conference is being attended by delegates from the country’s 10 provinces, the party’s international structures and representatives from sister political parties.
President Mnangagwa tasked the incoming Women`s League leadership to ensure there is vibrancy within the structures.
“I have confidence that you can achieve more. It’s incumbent upon Women’s League leadership to shift the role of women to ensure gender equality and sustainable women empowerment for all generations.
Women have an important role to play for the prosperity of any nation. When women are present on the decision making table development is accelerated. When women thrive we all thrive and the nation thrives,” said President Mnangagwa.
“I challenge you to rejuvenate and modernise structure. You are a strategic wing of the Party,” President Mnangagwa added.
The Conference is running under the theme, “Total Political and Socio-economic Empowerment for all Women by 2030”.
