President Emmerson Mnangagwa delivered a stirring address at the National Day of Prayer held at State House today, emphasizing the pivotal role of faith and divine guidance in building a prosperous Zimbabwe. Themed “A Quest for God’s Help in Nation Building,” the President’s speech wove together themes of gratitude, resilience, and collective action, all underpinned by an unwavering belief in God’s favor.

Right from the outset, President Mnangagwa highlighted the significance of prayer in Zimbabwe’s national life. He referenced the frequent Presidential Prayer Breakfasts held since the beginning of his administration, stating, “These gatherings demonstrate the government’s dedication to being guided by God’s principles.”

Drawing upon Psalm 127:1, “Unless the LORD builds the house, they that build it labor in vain,” President Mnangagwa underscored the belief that true and lasting progress hinges on divine intervention. He called upon the nation to seek God’s wisdom in all aspects of national development, from economic policies to community initiatives.

Acknowledging the ongoing challenges posed by illegal sanctions and the recent drought, the President chose to focus on the nation’s achievements, attributing them to God’s grace and the resilience of the Zimbabwean people. He cited the introduction of the Zimbabwe Gold Currency (ZiG) and ongoing infrastructure projects as tangible examples of progress.

“Across every corner of our country, He has granted us wisdom and strength to drive rapid socio-economic transformation,” he affirmed.

Addressing concerns about food security in the wake of the drought, President Mnangagwa assured citizens that the government is actively mobilizing resources to ensure no one goes hungry. He urged the Church and other stakeholders to join forces in supporting vulnerable communities, emphasizing the power of collective action.

Looking ahead to Zimbabwe’s chairmanship of the upcoming SADC Summit, President Mnangagwa solicited prayers for a successful event. He expressed his confidence in Zimbabwe’s ability to provide strong leadership within the region, grounded in unity and a shared vision for progress.

“Let us approach the SADC Summit with enhanced patriotism and unity, recognizing that this is a moment of honor for our beloved motherland, Zimbabwe,” he urged.

President Mnangagwa concluded his address with a series of powerful declarations drawn from scripture, reaffirming the nation’s reliance on God’s strength and guidance. His message resonated deeply, leaving attendees with a renewed sense of hope and a call to action rooted in faith, unity, and a shared commitment to building a brighter future for Zimbabwe.
