Winky D is abusing artists – Fantan

Zimbabwean dancehall music producer and Chillspot boss Arnold Kamudyariwa aka Fantan Dweet has fumed at Winky D over what he termed deceit and abuse of his position as a respected senior in the genre to get collaborations on his recent controversial release Eureka.

Fantan, as he is popularly known spoke raised his concerns on his Instagram page concerning questions raised over the controversial album by Winky D, which many have viewed as being political including Kamudyariwa himself.

Fantan said his response has been drawn by numerous questions as to why he is quiet concerning the album and he is only giving his viewpoint due to public pressure and concern for artistes who collaborated with Winky D on the album. Many of those are products of Chillspot Records hence his proteges.

Fantan said, “Yes I was excited to hear about the project. I was happy to see other artistes featuring for once pama gitare emukuru( senior’s album). This time he included other artists which was a dream come true for all of us, vaida kuonawo chimuti chichitambidzanwa( those who needed to see the button paased on) from one generation to another and to see two generations combining.”

Fantan then fires a salvo over the duplicity of Winky D saying, “But sa elder mu industry when you do certain projects you must enlighten the youths you engage zvizere kuti(fully inform them) project riri funded and tave kuimba zvematongerwo enyika so that anopinda achida nemoyo wake munyaya dzacho.( the project is funded by hostile outsiders and is a political one so that when one involves himself they do so willingly and knowingly)

What drew Fantan’s ire as the person who groomed and mentored most of the youths featured on the project(Eureka) was that they were duped into participating and did so out of ignorance on the political connotations. They, according to Fantan worked only for the pleasure of working with Winky D not knowing his intentions was to drag them over hot coals..

He further castigated Chirimuko for flying off to Dubai for a holiday with his family, leaving the youngsters in a lurch and with their careers under threat with sponsors withdrawing from them. He siad they were compalaining over how he, Winky had thrown them under the bus.

Writing in vernacular, Fantan said, “Ini ndiri kutaura se munhu aka groomer and aka mentor most of the youths vari pa project iroro. Zvirikundirwadza to see them crying behind the scenes kuti takakandwa pasi pe bhazi nemukuru wedu kumagitare. Right now mukuru vaya vari ku Dubai ku Holiday ne family yavo zvavo zvakaita. Isusu now tava pama1 because some companies no longer want to associate with us because they dont want their brands associated ne politics of any nature.”

He called Winky D cruel and callous saying, “As elders ibasa redu to groom, guide and protect vana(it is our job to groom, guide and protect the youngsters). Its cruel kuti as an elder in a position yekuvimbiwa nevana unozovaitisa uchiziva kuti yako life irikufamba (It is cruel as an elder held in esteem and trusted by the youngsters to use them knowing it will negatively affect them while your life goes on). This is my opinion hapana daka (there is no beef) feel free to have your own opinion.”

Among those who worked with Winky D on the album is hip-hop chanter Holy Ten has openly sought to distance himself from the project saying he now regretted wor

king on it.
