There is no war harder to win than ideologically confronting a legion of Zimbabwean idiots armed with smart phones on social media.
They are all convinced that having access to a smart phone means they have a smart mind, especially on matters of politics.
If it ended on politics, I would not worry much but they will skip from there to international affairs, economic and financial affairs and their current favorite; religious affairs. Their current target is Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa of the United Family International Church.
The charismatic prophet’s church has a basilica in Chitungwiza and played host to President ED Mnangagwa, the First Lady Amai Mnangagwa, his deputy Vice President Gen (Rtd) CGDCN Chiwenga and other senior Government officials over Easter.
That seems to have raised the ire of the noisy, irrational social media lunatic fringe.
The hungry and noisy lunatic fringe seems to think that Prophet makandiwa should not have played host to the First Citizen.
Prophet Makandiwa escalated the wrath of the simpletons by then stating the obvious.
He didn’t even have to be prophetic, well, that is not entirely true, he was prophetic because he was bith forthtelling and foretelling, but he did state the obvious, much to their chagrin.
The prophet quoted the Bible which many in the lunatic fringe claim to be believers in.
They let the chap they would have preferred to be invited by Prophet Makandiwa claim devine annointment and even let him say God is in it.
But I digress, Prophet Makandiwa said, “Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities for there is no authority except that which God has established.
The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted and those who do so will bring judgement on themselves.”
This is common sense and needed not raise anyone’s anger.
Well the prophet of God, Emmanuel Makandiwa, being who he is was aware of such persons and said, “Criticism can become a passion, that passion grows into a commitment and finally am occupation.”
He summed it up perfectly!
How do people criticise the construction of roads, the construction of dams, expansion of power stations, opening up of fields to create greenbelts, the reopening of irrigations and setting up of some?
Like is there something wrong in making sure people are supplied with clean prtable drinking water?
Prophect Makandiwa said, “I shall not keep quiet when I see roads being repaired.”
For some reason, this makes certain persons extremely angry. He added, “I am one of the people who speak out when things are not right. And now when I see what is happening, look at our highways, President Mnangagwa, through most of these activities that your Government has embarked on, you have already started saving lives.”
How this is wrong only exists in the minds of the madding crowd.
He said what every third rate economist would know when he satated;
“It is never the responsibility of Government to create jobs for you. The creation of an environment is their responsibility so that you and I prosper and we have that opportunity in Zimbabwe. There is something wrong with a citizen who keeps complaining and shifting blame.”
The prophet added, “Once you start making other people responsible for your situation, then you are disempowering yourself and your ability to change that situation. I told the President that even him and his Government cannot stop me from prospering.”
How this made anyone angry is still a surprise to me.
He suddenly became a false prophet for inviting President Mnangagwa and of course for stating obvious truths.
The converse of asserting Makandiwa is a fake prophet because he hosted and welcomed ED Mnangagwa is to say welcoming and hosting Nelson Chamisa would make him a true prophet.
This is the logic of the social media lunatic fringe.
Neither Mnangagwa nor Chamisa is an arbiter of God’s truth and God is not a member of any political party so what sin did Prophet Makandiwa commit? Does the Bible not say all he said? Should he have not invited Government leaders to his church?
As to what he said, a little interrogation will have to be made.
Which road did the Prophet use going to his Chitungwiza church from his mansion in Borrowdale?
If he used the road I think he used then, he was right, the road was fixed by the government led by two gentlemen who were part of his congregation on that day!
He cant remain silent when he sees a road leading to where his church is are being fixed!
Then of course because of what he said, strange allegations of criminality started flying around.
No surprise there after all, there are many who are pained by his success and would be God’s vicegerents in condemning him.
But I’m yet to see a Makandiwa pick up truck moving around people’s houses forcing them to go to his Church.
Neither have I seen an advertisement of that nature. No sympathy for anyone who willingly gave their money in their search of God knows what!
I think I am not the only one who enjoys his teachings from the comfort of my home. The two times I went to his church, I sat at the ordinary sitting area and the other time in the overflow tent because I do not move around with any sense of false importance and entitlement.
When you willingly pay to sit where you think you belong you forfeit the right to make any scurrilous claims of having been conned.
I cannot imagine myself going back to Mutimunyoro Bar to demand my back money I spent on alcohol when I could have bought a housing stand.
People must stop smoking illegal stuff in this country!
People who willingly, knowingly, intently and willfully give their money to churches chanting the verse “God loves a cheerful giver,” cannot possibly turn around and plead victimhood to scamming.
A vulnerable person is either a minor or someone who for physical or mental reasons is unable to look after themselves or their finances.
If you make bad decisions, even religious ones, chin up and take responsibility for your sloppiness.
Meanwhile, God says, “Touch not my anointed, and do the prophets no harm!”
