The Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage assures Zimbabweans that their security and safety is guaranteed throughout the Independence celebration period and beyond following threats by MDC Alliance activists to engage in unconstitutional demonstrations.
In a statement Minister Kazembe Kazembe said the Ministry has directed the Commissioner General of Police to take action on some political activists, individuals and civic organizations who are being fronted by MDC Alliance and have openly threatened to engage in a series of illegal demonstrations dubbed “The Winter Jest”.

“The Police and other Security Services will be on high alert and ready to defend the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Those planning and coordinating the illegal demonstrations have been sternly warned that the law will take its course. Local and Internationally based Organizations who are providing funding through individuals and the so-called Civic Organizations proxies were also duly warned to stop fermenting disorder in the country and will be held accountable for any criminal acts perpetrated by groups who are obviously bidding for opposition political parties in the country,” said Minister Kazembe.

The public has also been urged to ignore messages being circulated by the MDC Alliance not to celebrate and observe the country’s 41st Independence anniversary.
The Police are monitoring venues where secret meetings are being held to mobilize for illegal demonstrations.

In his recent self-dabbed state of the nation address, Mr. Nelson Chamisa, the leader of the MDC Alliance formations threatened winter demonstrations to force regime change in Zimbabwe. This follows the decimation of his political formation through defections from high ranking officials to ZANU PF citing poor leadership and dictatorial tendencies from the pint-sized pastor.

The MDC Alliance is known for planning seditious events towards national and international events to ratchet up international pressure for their ill-fated regime change agenda. Several Civic Society Organisations have been caught on the wrong side of their lawful activities dabbling up in politics.
