Warriors ready for a win in Malawi

The Zimbabwe senior football team, the Warriors, and the Under-20, the Young Warriors are in Malawi for a four-nations tournament, which starts in Lilongwe this week.
The Warriors, led by Norman Mapeza,
are expected to make wonders at the four-nations tournament also featuring hosts Malawi, Zambia, and Kenya.
The Warriors who will be joined by the Young Warriors arrived in Malawi this Monday ahead of the tournament.
In a statement, ZIFA spokesperson Kudzaishe Mupoperi said local players will be joined by their foreign-based counterparts in Lilongwe this Monday with training expected to start today.
The tournament will be held during the FIFA international break as the Warriors prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
The Warriors squad has nine players plying their trade in England, among them Brentford B goalkeeper, Marley Tavaziva, Brendan Galloway of Plymouth Argyle, Reading’s Tivonge Rushesha, Tawanda Chirewa of Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City’s Tawanda Masvanhise.
The Under-20 team is also participating in the Malawi four-nations tournament alongside the senior team.
Meanwhile, Dynamos striker Elton Chikona and Leon Daka of Herentals have been released from the Young Warriors squad after breaching team protocols.
ZIFA announced that the duo of Chikona and Daka has not travelled with the team to Malawi.
