THE Zimbabwe senior men football team, the Warriors are raring to go ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Lesotho at the Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa on Friday.

The Warriors have stepped up preparations for their FIFA World Cup qualifier against Lesotho with the team going through its paces under the watchful eye of interim coach Jairos Tapera at Wits University Stadium this Tuesday.

All the players were present, except the injured Brendon Galloway and Teenage Hadebe who was expected in South Africa this Tuesday.

Midfielder Jordan Zemura summed up the mood in camp saying the team is hoping to build on their good performances against Nigeria and Rwanda in their first two world cup qualifiers.

“The last two games against Nigeria and Rwanda were two good performances especially against Nigeria we played very well. To be fair, we should have got more than a point but for these two big games in the quest to World Cup qualification we dream as footballers to achieve such special things,” he said.

Meanwhile, striker Douglas Mapfumo, who plays for Polokwane City in South Africa is thrilled at the prospect of representing his country, “I’m happy, I have been waiting for this opportunity if it’s God’s time it’s God’s time the thing that I’m supposed to do is just be patient.”

The Warriors will face Lesotho at Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg this Friday before taking on Bafana Bafana four days later at Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein.
