Warriors coach Norman Mapeza has heaped praises on under fire goalkeeper Talbert Shumba after the rookie goalkeeper conceded a soft goal against Ghana last Tuesday.

Former Chapungu player Talbert Shumba misjudged a low shot from Thomas Partey and watched helplessly as the shot sailed into the net.

Five minutes later Shumba was on it again after spilling a Conner kick towards the legs of Ghanian striker.
Luckily for the Warriors, the striker’s shot was blocked off the line by alert Orlando Pirates midfielder Terrence Dzvukamanja.

Despite all the mistiming by the goalkeeper, coach Norman Mapeza still believes the goalie still has a lot to offer to the national team.

“I was a footballer before and I made mistakes as well but my coach never dropped me. I will be like Judas if I sacrifice someone for a mistake.
The boy is a professional player, he never looked down”.

The Warriors were beaten by a goal to nil by a Ghanaian team which maintained a clean record against the Warriors, having been the better side at Cape Coast Stadium in Ghana.
The Warriors are effectively out of the race for a slot at the 2022 Qatar World cup.
