A Christ Embassy pastor in Glen View, was this weekend arrested for allowing 50 unvaccinated congregants to attend a service he was presiding over.
The pastor`s identity is yet to be shared.
In a terse tweet, ZRP said; “The ZRP urges members of the public to take heed of the Government`s pronouncements on the opening of churches. On 15/08/21 Police arrested a Christ Embassy Pastor in Glen View 3, Harare, after a gathering involving 50 unvaccinated congregants.”
This comes barely a week after cabinet allowed churches to open, on the condition that attendees would have received two vaccine shots.
Authorities made it clear that pastors who allow unvaccinated people into their services would be arrested.
In another tweet, the ZRP have confirmed that they they are now investigating a case of an abused Glendale boy which went viral on social media recently.
“Police confirm that the case is now under investigation and the boy has been taken to a place of safety by the Zimbabwe Republic Police and Social Welfare Department. The minor has been taken for medical examination and we are now waiting for the full medical report. Witness statements are being recorded from neighbours and some relatives. This will guide the Police on the next course of action in this case,” ZRP said.
Police said an accompanying video of a woman brutally assaulting a minor which is circulating on social media is not linked to the Glendale case. Police are investigating whether or not the video was taken in Zimbabwe.
