Tsvangirai’s son dumps Chamisa

Brian Rungano Temba

Son of the late former Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, Vincent, has cut ties with Nelson Chamisa and is said to be seeking a new political home in ZANU PF.

This was said by Apostate, former MDC senior member Chaibva Gabriel, in a tweet recently.

“As Sec Gen of #ReturneesForED, I am delighted to announce that Vincent Tsvangirayi has officially parted ways with Nelson Chamisa and Mwonzora and joined @ZANUPF_Official,” the tweet.

Another former senior member of the Opposition, Tongai Matutu posted something to the same effect.

“Welcome Vincent Tsvangirai, welcome to the winning team Zanu PF. Please feel at home. By now every normal person is joining Zanu PF and as Returnees4ED we are serious today we registered 505 new members. 6 million votes for ED in 2023,” said Matutu.

Sister Affiliate Young Women for ED Chaiperson Hon Tatenda Mavetera welcomed Tsvangirai as well.

“Shuwa mhuri yakatanga neopposition yauya ku @ZANUPF_Official koiwe hako unovatevera working? Dzinongova nharo hadzo mamisleaders @CCCZimbabwe .Welcome Hon Vincent Tsvangirai,” read her tweet.

Vincent Tsvangirai joins the great Exodus from an underfunded and ungratifying opposition that was usurped by Nelson Chamisa from his father’s still warm corpse.

The path was paved by the likes of Lilian Timveous and Blessing Chebundo from the Midlands Province, Obert Gutu and James Makore, who have joined the ruling ZANU PF party.

Vincent Tsvangirai has had falling outs with Chamisa and his loyalists since 2018.

In 2021 he accused the late Alex Magayisa and Dr Pedzisai Ruhanya of working with G-40 members, former cabinet minister Jonathan Moyo in particular, to denounce the smaller MDC-T and its leader Douglas Mwonzora.

Vincent who is the Member of Parliament for Glen View South, said in an interview with Inter-Parliamentary Union he has faced the challenge of being underestimated because of his age.

More Opposition members are expected to migrate from the Chamisa and Mwonzora camps following infightings going on in respective camps.
