A truck from Shamva’s Civil Registry Sub Office had at least 140 litres of fuel milked while it was parked at a police station in Shamva on Sunday.

The development comes days after a Public Service Commission (PSC) bus had its fuel stolen twice while parked at the Shamva District Development Committee Complex (DDC).

The influx of mining activities has contributed to a surge in theft and robbery cases in the rich gold area.

A criminal syndicate roving around the district is targeting public vehicles, buses and other private vehicles.

A driver of the PSC bus, Mr Doma said the truck was parked in from of the charge office when the fuel was drained.

“When the driver tried to start the truck on Sunday, that was when he found out that the tank was empty.

“The PSC bus also lost its fuel twice when it was parked in the DDC’s complex overnight,” he said.
