National Treasury has released ZWL $368.5 million to government ministries to help with Covid-19 Lockdown enforcement.
Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage, and Ministry of Defence and War Veterans Affairs are part of the recipients with the duty of policing the lockdown regulations.
*Minister of Information Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Hon Monica Mutsvangwa announced this on Tuesday evening by during a Post Cabinet Brief.*
“An additional ZW$41 million is to be released to Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services,” she added.
The Permanent secretary in the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Mr Nick Mangwana confirmed that the funds will help the ministry in gathering and dissemination of information.
“Our Ministry has the responsibility to ensure that everyone is informed of government programmes and that they find space in those programmes and play their critical role.
We also have a job to counter misinformation and disinformation to ensure that the public has the information it needs to make informed health related choices as well as other matters,” he said
Level four COVID-19 Lockdown was extended by another two weeks by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Zimbabwe Republic Police has been instructed to carry out strict enforcement of restrictions on the movement of people after curfew hours.
