Esigodini – In a devastating incident, a Falcon College bus overturned along the Bulawayo/Esigodini Road this afternoon, resulting in the tragic loss of one student’s life and leaving three others injured.

The bus, carrying a total of 56 students, was returning from a rugby match in Harare when the accident occurred at a notorious stretch of the highway known as “Danger,” just a few kilometers from the Esigodini toll gate.

According to the school’s communication, the student who passed away was Aidan O’Donovan, a member of the Upper Sixth form. The school expressed its deepest sadness over this immense loss, stating that “there are no adequate words at a time like this, and we are all deeply affected.”

The three injured students were immediately transported by ambulance to a hospital in Bulawayo for medical treatment. Among them was Bradley Wentzel, who suffered a broken arm and is currently receiving care at the Mater Dei hospital along with his parents.

The Falcon College administration has chartered a flight to bring Aidan’s parents to Bulawayo, and they are en route to the city. The school has also encouraged the Falcon community to keep the O’Donovan family, as well as everyone who loved Aidan, in their thoughts during this incredibly difficult time.

Mr. Kirkman, the school’s Headmaster, is expected to issue a further statement on the incident as soon as possible. The Falcon College community has offered condolences and support channels for those wishing to reach out to the O’Donovan family and the school during this tragic event.
