Trafficking gig turns fatal

The Zimbabwe Republic Police are investigating a case in which four male adult corpses were discovered earlier today in Mudzi area in Mashonaland East.

In a statement, National Police Spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the yet to be identified bodies, believed to be foreigners, were found near the 174 kilometre peg along the Harare-Nyamapanda road.

Police have a theory that the deceased persons could have been participants or victims of a human trafficking racket.

“The four male adult who were found dead in Mudzi are suspected to be foreigners who were being trafficked to another country. The victims are also suspected to have suffocated in the container they were traveling in and the bodies were dumped in the area,” Assistant Commissioner Nyathi.

The ZRP has engaged Interpol for assistance in identifying the dead people and possibly apprehend suspects.

This comes as Finance and Economic Development Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube has given a vote of $293 billion towards the Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage, with a chunk of the amount going to the police to aid crime fighting efforts.
