Tobacco Generates US$640 Million in Fifty Days

Tobacco sales have racked in at least US$640 million as at day 50 of the current marketing season, the Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB) has said.
During the period, a total of 213 million kg of golden leaf were sold, at an average price of US$3 per kg.
About 2,69 million bales have been sold since the beginning of the marketing season on a mass of 2,76 million bales laid
Auction floors have taken delivery of 16 million kg, while contractors have contributed 197 million kg.
The highest price achieved to date is US$6,10 per kg, while the lowest is US$0,10.
