The Covid-19 situation in Zimbabwe seems to be improving, as the number of cases and deaths appear to be on the decrease.
The current third wave saw the death toll reach 3950 with a record of an average of 55 deaths a day in July 2021.
However, things have taken a positive turn and the average death per day has decreased to 41 deaths since the beginning of August.
The highest recorded number of deaths was 72 and the lowest 19.
The recovery rate has even increased to 78 percent and active cases have reduced to 21809.
This includes the 405 new cases that were recorded yesterday.
The average number of positive new cases has dropped to 689 from 857.
The notable improvements can be attributed to the strict level four lockdown measure that were put in place by the Government to curb the spread of the virus.
A strict curfew and banning of intercity travel were part of the restrictions set to reduce movement.
The progress in the vaccination program has been seen as another factor contributing to the decreases in the fatality of the virus.
1 912 592 people have received their first dose and 1061238 people have been fully vaccinated.
Yesterday alone saw 15178 people receive their first dose and 16873 people receive their second dose.
