The Presidential Borehole Drilling Scheme reaches Mwenezi

Mwenezi District villagers have praised the Government for recognizing them as a priority group in the ongoing Presidential Borehole Drilling Scheme which is being implemented by the Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA) by drilling five boreholes.
Under the programme, ZINWA is set to drill and equip a borehole for each of the country’s 35 000 villages by 2025.
President Mnangagwa is fulfilling his presidential mandate of leaving no one and no place behind.
Mwenezi-West Consistency has received the equipment, and the drilling equipment is targeting 5 areas.
It is drilling in Santizah-Bubi, Marinda, Boterere, Nkomo, and Makugwe. Three places have been covered so far with the rest to be achieved by next week.
Mwenezi District is in shortage of portable and accessible water points close to the citizens. Citizens have to travel long distances to access water.
There are no wells.
The high temperatures in the district and the high costs of drilling prevent the people of Mwenezi from having wells. Water is accessed at rivers, which puts the residents at risk from cholera, bilharzia, and crocodiles.
The scheme brings joy to the residents as seen by their assistance in laying pipes. The construction of the borehole is sometime next week.
