Slandering the state for profit: How the oppsition became a breathing example of stupidity
Nevanji Munyaradzi Chiondegwa
Repeating the same thing and expecting a different outcome is what Einstein described a stupidity.
Although his existence predates Zimbabwe, one would be forgiven to assume that he had seen opposition politicians in this country.
They have a toxic pechant of fabricating brutalisation tales seeking foreign sympathies.
It always happens towards international events, but it appears the usual suspects have also adopted an inward looking strategy.
Their intention is to raise false alarm towards the forthcoming March 26 election.
Perhaps the most prominent are the overtures in Kwekwe, which saw one person lose a life.
The Chronicle reported that the man who sadly lost his life was not part of Nelson Chamisa’s CCC, despite the party making claims over his corpse.
There should be strict inquiries into the issue, those who orchestrated or participated should account – in the full view of the public.
But enough of Kwekwe, we know it was to draw attention to the sanctions renewal that was about to be carried out by the United States of America President, Joe Biden.
We even had Tendai Biti claiming an attack on his home during his absence.
Anybody can be foolish but to claim that the State attacked Biti’s house is foolishness of the highest level.
Nothing ranks more foolish than Fadzayi Mahere, the loquacious spokesperson of the CCC Party claiming to have been attacked by the State and attributing the stealing of her bag and particulars from her car in a club car park when she had gone carousing to the State.
Honestly, Fadzayi Mahere is a lawyer and knows the signs of a break and entry. She must have during her law practice defended a thief accused of break and entry.
The signs are clear and obvious. The window broken was the passenger side window were most if not all ladies driving leave their handbags. Fadzayi Mahere left her handbag in the car, and attracted thieves.
Of course Fadzayi Mahere has international friends including one Lord Oates, a British Lord, who had been making so much noise on her behalf.
How a man who is from a country where seating MPs have been knifed to death seems to think a robbery on an opposition party spokesperson in Zimbabwe is an attack from ZANU PF Government beats me and I bet a lot of us.
But all this pales in comparison with the latest claim about the abduction of disgraced former Harare Mayor Herbert Gomba.
Gomba last this past Sunday, for one reason or the other decided not to go home from the bar.
One cannot say he had gone to a girlfriend or not, for it can be considered malicious and one could find himself before a judge. However what one can say with absolute certainty is Gomba got lost on his home from the bar and therefore did not make it.
As is typical among their circles, they alerted the political puppet string holders and US Embassy in Harare, Hopewell Chin’ono and other shadowy social media characters.
The whole world was suddenly bombarded with messages of *Bring Back Gomba* directed towards the State.
Why the State would abduct or have Gomba and how they arrived to the conclusion that he had been abducted is a case of study that still has to be understood.
For all intends and purpose, Herbert Gomba is not known even in Harare except for his stint as Mayor, an appointment that was shrouded in controversy too.
One would pass him in the street and not know him from bathsoap.
He is unremarkable, and does not even have a presence in the CCC that would mark him as important or make him a political target.
To say, he is unremarkable, is to even commit an injustice to the word unremarkable.
He is as charismatic as a brick.
It would be stupid to make him famous by even so much as asking him anything political.
He is just one man who found a loophole to use to the Missus.
What is instructive though is that Herbert Gomba decided to disappear a day before the marking of *Zimbabwe National Day* at *Expo Dubai 2020.*
No prize for guessing how the wheels in the minds of the puppet handlers and the puppets worked there!
President Mnangagwa at the Zimbabwe Day was inviting the International Community to invest in Zimbabwe, telling them the country is a safe destination, peaceful, uphold property rights and is politically stable and tolerant.
Against this background are noises about one Herbert Gomba who is a former Mayor of the country’s capital and worse a member of the opposition.
The same opposition that weeks before had created a scenario which ultimately cost someone a life.
How would President Mnangagwa explain that away? How would it gel with his message to the international community in thr United Arab Emirates?
Anybody ever noted that the ‘violence, abductions, torture or whatever’ they claim always occurs either when Zimbabwe is engaging the international community or when there are international diplomats coming for accreditation or something to the country?
How foolish is the State then to carry out actions that put the country in bad light before visitors or potential investors?
Now, people in clubs get their cars broken in, people miss their way home from the bar and claim abduction all to score cheap political points, gain some political mileage and international sympathy but what of Zimbabwe?
Who thinks or worries about the image of the country and the damage done by such scurrilous and malicious claims?
The same people demanding jobs, the same people demanding better lives, cheap products, electricity, ICT are the same people creating scenarios that make such achievements impossible.
They are the same people out there soiling the national image, creating a false image of a Zimbabwe that is dangerous.
Their intention is not even to win elections for they know that is unachievable.
Their intention is simply to keep getting funding and remain relevant to the regime change mechanics of the Americans.
Small wonder they are screaming against the Patriots Act and the PVOs Bill.
These two laws will make most of their actions except being political activists criminal so they certainly do not want the Bills to be passed into law.
One does not have to wander to far to find out who is behind them and their actions. One simply has to look at who does not want the two laws passed!
Did I mention that the ‘abducted’ Gomba has been reported as found and in the ‘custody’ of his family?
Zimbabwe International Day soiled, Gomba safe from being hit over the head by the Missus and lots of attention drawn to them.
Well done, nicely played, but, who is going to withdraw the malicious allegations against Zimbabwe?Who is going to explain on behalf of the State?
Who will make noise on behalf of the State?
Who will say; Herbert Gomba was not abducted, leastways, by the State!?
Who will be held to account for the costs incurred on the country’s reputation?
Who will quantify the costs of the damage caused by the claims of torture, abduction, human rights violation and the sanctions imposed because of such claims?
Who will be held accountable so that we can as a nation present him or her with the costs?
Do we have a need to delay the PVO and Patriots Act anymore when we have such a malicious opposition that does not focus on national growth but on merely soiling the national image even to cover their personal dirty acts?
Fadzayi Mahere did not want to admit she stupidly left her handbag I in the car while gallivanting on a Friday night, so she claimed she was attacked by State agents. Herbert Gomba, after failing to return home, decided on the old ‘abduction’ story. Funnily enough both actions coincided with our day at the Expo Dubai 2020.
And who made the loudest noise? Western Embassies! Without a single shred of evidence and well, it turns out they have not spoken on Gomba being found and with his family!
It is time we investigated, arrested, prosecuted and jailed those who make such allegations!
Foolishness must not be an acceptable form of defense!
