Harare, July 30, 2024 – In a post-Cabinet address, the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Dr Janfan Muswere, commended the government’s steady progress on various priority infrastructure projects during the 2nd 100-Day Cycle of 2024.
“The Cabinet received detailed progress reports from the Ministers of Mines and Mining Development, as well as Transport and Infrastructural Development, showcasing the impressive strides made across key sectors of our economy,” said Dr Muswere.
Highlighting the milestones, the Minister noted that the construction of the Concentrator Plant at Karo Platinum Mine in Mashonaland West is 39% complete, while the Carbon Steel Plant is fully operational. Additionally, the Coke Oven Battery Phase 4 at Dinson Colliery in Hwange has been commissioned, with a capacity of 200,000 tonnes per annum.
In the transport sector, Dr Muswere lauded the 99% completion of the new VVIP Pavilion at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport, as well as the 16 km of the targeted 25 km along the Harare-Masvingo-Beitbridge road that has been constructed and upgraded.
“The Mbudzi Interchange project is now 68% complete, and the Harare-Kanyemba Road upgrading in Harare and Mashonaland Central Provinces is 84.4% done, set to be finished ahead of the SADC Summit,” the Minister added.
Dr Muswere also highlighted the completion of 10 km out of the 20 km Shurugwi-Mhandamabwe Road Rehabilitation project in Midlands Province, as well as the full completion of the 25 km of new access roads to the new Parliament building, with the entire project expected to be finalized by the end of this month.
“These reports demonstrate the government’s unwavering commitment to delivering on its development agenda and improving the lives of our citizens through strategic infrastructure investments,” concluded Dr Muswere.
