In a new twist to the three week search for missing Moreblessing Ali, an unidentified body was discovered in a shallow well in Beatrice yesterday, becoming the latest indication so far that the woman might have been abducted and later on murdered.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the discovery of a body at plot number 321 Denota Farm in Beatrice on June 11, 2022. Ironically, the body was discovered by one Linnah Mukandi who is mother to Pius Jamba, the chief suspect in the disappearance of Moreblessing Ali.

Jamba is the last known ex-boyfriend to Moreblessing Ali, and coincidentally, the last person to be seen with her on the night of her disappearance. Information made available to the Police indicate that it was Jamba, who on the night of Moreblessing’s disappearance, had an altercation with her over a dog at a beer hall on May 25, 2022.

With nearly three weeks having since passed without a trace of the two, the dramatic discovery of a body in a shallow well, within the same farming community, can only raise public curiosity and Police interest, hoping for closure to the case.
On the fateful night, it is alleged that Jamba dragged Moreblessing into the darkness of the night in a scuffle that was largely ignored by patrons at a bar at Chibhanguza Shopping Centre.

In a statement the ZRP National Spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi revealed that the police have intensified the identification process in conjunction with forensic science analysts and that results will be made public as soon as they are out.

“The body was observed by Linnah Mukandi (57), who is mother to the suspect Pius Jamba. The Police has been in contact with Moreblessing Ali’s family and has stepped up the identification process through forensic science analysts,” said a police statement.

He also cautioned the public against interfering with the investigations currently under way. Some misguided political activists have rushed to draw conclusions in a case which is in it’s preliminary stages of investigations. This, the police say, is an attempt to defeat the course of justice.

” Meanwhile the ZRP is disturbed by some politicians, including some lawyers who are issuing threats to Government officials and Police in connection with this sad case. Some are openly inciting violence. The public is urged to be patient and allow the current criminal investigations to proceed smoothly.”

“The Police reiterates that this is a heinous crime of which all efforts will be made to ensure that suspects are brought to book without fail. However any form of intimidation or threats under the guise of politics or social media antics are being monitored by the police, ” said Assistant Commissioner Nyathi.

“Politicians should not interfere with criminal investigation and allow due processes of the law to be followed, ” he added.

The Nelson Chamisa led Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has sought political capital from this incident. Instead pushing a humanitarian narrative, the party is now seeking a pretext for the invoking of the Right to Protect mechanism which would then be used by the West to override Zimbabwean Sovereignty.
