Government has set August 30 as the reopening day for schools, which had plunged into a period of inactivity by Covid-19.

First to return to classes will be examination classes on August 30, followed by the rest of the learners a week later on September 6.

The new dates were announced by Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa at today’s Post Cabinet Briefing.

“Intercity and intercity transportation for learners will be allowed during re-opening of school periods, subsections to monitoring by law enforcement agencies,” said Minister Mutsvangwa.

Intercity travel to facilitate learners` return to school has been allowed.

With insights from scientists, Government has extended the vaccination age group to youths between 14 and 17 years of age.

This means that most high school learners will be covered, reducing possibilities of a hard closure in the event of another outbreak.
