Staff Reporter

CHIREDZI – The days of walking long distances in search of health care will soon be a thing of the past for Chiredzi residents in Ward 32 following the construction of Rusununguko Clinic in the district.
The clinic which has a maternity ward is now at an advanced stage and is set to address rural health challenges in the district particularly Ward 32 and 21.
A team from the Provincial Office of the President and Cabinet who were assessing the project on Thursday were told that the project is almost complete and left with a few touch ups.
The clinic is being built through devolution funds by Chiredzi Rural District Council.
The local authority has since managed to purchase equipment for the clinic which is going to cater for an approximate of 10 000 families who used to travel distances to get to the nearest health facilities.
Meanwhile, papers for the registration of the clinic are yet to be approved.
The clinic has two semi-detached staff houses that can accommodate four families.
Rusununguko clinic was built by locals with the exception of jobs that needed technicalities, where they had to hire people with technical expertise.
