Pursue the Chinese chicken market- President tells breeders

President Mnangagwa recently urged local chicken farmers to set their sights on the evergreen Chinese markert.
Speaking at the launch of the AFC Commercial Bank, President Emmerson Mnangagwa said farmers have an opportunity to earn foreign currency.
President Mnangagwa said farmers should capitalize on the opportunities created through the AFC Holdings financial facilities to capitalize their ventures into viable projects across the agricultural value chain

“Growing exports, agro industrialisation and penetration of global value chain markets must remain the main focus.
We have the capacity in our Agriculture sector to export,” added President Mnangagwa.

President Mnangagwa said his administration made an investigation into the capacity Zimbabwe had to feed the Chinese market with Chicken.

“His Excellency the president of China Xi Jinping told the Zimbabwean deligation that attended the last Forum on China-Africa Co-operation (FOCAC) that China was interested in export a wide variety of products from Africa including chicken.

So we made a survey to determine how much Chicken we had in Zimbabwe to feed the market in China. We found that we currently have enough to feed the whole of China for one breakfast meal only,” said President Mnangagwa.

President Mnangagwa encouraged young farmers to take advantage of this opportunity.
