President Emmerson Mnangagwa has officially launched the African Journal of Defence and Security, an initiative spearheaded by the Zimbabwe National Defence University.
The launch took place following a graduation ceremony where President Mnangagwa conferred degrees upon 144 students.
During his address, the President emphasized the journal’s significance as a vital platform for fostering discussions on defence and security matters.
“The introduction of this journal is timely, given the growing need for the exchange of ideas in the defence and security sectors,” stated President Mnangagwa.
He further explained that the journal would greatly contribute to the understanding of national, regional, and international defence and security issues, especially in today’s geopolitical climate where nations must prioritize their national interests, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
President Mnangagwa also expressed satisfaction that the journal extends beyond traditional security topics, encompassing a wide range of human security pillars, including economic, food, health, environmental, personal, cyber, community, and political security.
“This journal will undoubtedly serve as a critical forum where security professionals, academics, and students of national security studies can actively contribute to the defence and security dialogue through empirical evidence, research findings, and well-founded conclusions,” said President Mnangagwa.
