President to deliver next week`s SONA at New Parliament

President Mnangagwa will next week deliver a State of the Nation Address (SONA), as he opens the Fifth Session of the Ninth Parliament.
The address, according to Clerk of Parliament Mr Kennedy Chokuda, is penciled for November 23, at the new parliament in Mount Hampden.
“Parliament would like to advise the nation, all clients and stakeholders of the State of the Nation Address and the Official Opening of the 5th session of the Ninth Parliament by His Excellency President Mnangagwa on November 23rd at the New Parliament Building in Mt Hampden, Harare,” wrote Mr Chokuda in a notice.
According to General Notice 2525 of 2022 inserted by Speaker of Parliament Advocate Jacob Mudenda in this week`s Government Gazette the event will also mark the official opening of the New Parliament.
There will be a joint sitting of the Senate and National Assembly.
A day after the President`s SONA, Finance and Economic Development Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube will deliver the 2023 National Budget at the New Parliament.
The opening of the new parliament marks the coming to life of the new city in Mount Hampden, which is being designed to ease congestion in Harare.
