President Emmerson Mnangagwa will descend on Bulawayo next week for the Bulawayo Arts Festival which runs from June 2 – 5, 2021.
The festival brings together various art forms such as music, film, dance, visual arts, fashion among others to one platform.
In 2019 the festival reached out to about 45 countries thereby putting Bulawayo in the global spotlight and helped draw to its shores both domestic and international tourists and investors.
The festival helped local artists to shine on the global scale, thereby creating synergies with promoters and fellow artists for collaborations and exchange between various arts disciplines.
Speaking at a post Cabinet briefing , Minister for information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Honourable Monica Mutsvangwa said the main event will remain virtual due to Covid-19 control measures.
“This year’s Festival is scheduled to be held from 2 to 5 June 2021. The main festival, which will largely remain digital due to COVID-19 control measures, will feature two main high profile programmes, namely: the launch of the Bulawayo Urban Heritage and Eco-Tourism Program (June 3, 2021); and the Creative and Cultural Industries Conference (June 3-4, 2021).
Government is pleased to announce that His Excellency the President will officiate at the event. This demonstrates the Second Republic’s commitment to the promotion and development of the creative and cultural industry,” said Minister Mutsvangwa
Last year’s commemorations were postponed to this year due to Covid-19 Lockdown measures which were introduced by the Government to Control the spread of Covid-19.
