HARARE – His Excellency The President and ZANU PF’s First Secretary Cde Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa addressed the Party’s Central Committee yesterday, emphasizing on commitment to industrialization and modernization as key drivers for achieving Vision 2030. The meeting, which preceeds the Party’s 21st National People’s Conference in Bulawayo, focused on the theme “Industrialise and Modernise Towards the Attainment of Vision 2030.”
President Mnangagwa called for unity and focus within the party, urging members to uphold the ZANU-PF constitution and its founding principles. President Mnangagwa emphasized the importance of internal democracy and constructive debate, stating, “We have always rejected any practices and conduct that are inconsistent with our laws and regulations outlined in the Party Constitution.” President Mnangagwa urged leaders to follow in the footsteps of the party’s founding fathers and maintain its rich tradition.
The President and First Secretary acknowledged the Central Committee’s role in overseeing the implementation of party resolutions and policies. President Mnangagwa commended their work and expressed gratitude, stating, “Tinokutendayi sehutungamiri weMusangano.” President Mnangagwa also highlighted the importance of the party’s oversight of government functions, stressing that policies from the upcoming conference should be integrated into government plans.
President Mnangagwa addressed the ongoing restructuring exercise within the party, noting satisfactory progress in some provinces while urging others to expedite the process. The President further stressed the importance of correctly constituted party structures at all levels, from cells and villages to branches and districts. He cautioned against infiltration and emphasized the need to address anomalies within structures through adherence to the party constitution.
Innovation, research, science, and technology were identified as crucial elements for socio-economic transformation. President Mnangagwa challenged all sectors to embrace modern tools and think innovatively. President Mnangagwa praised the ingenuity displayed at the Presidential Innovation Fair and Awards ceremony and the Research Council of Zimbabwe Symposium, highlighting the strides made by young Zimbabweans in embracing the Heritage Based Education 5.0 Model.
The President and First Secretary reiterated the call for the lifting of sanctions, stating, “We are unambiguous in our calls that sanctions must go.” President Mnangagwa also addressed the upcoming rainy season and the launch of the Pfumvudza/Intwasa program, urging communities to prepare adequately for the summer cropping season.
In closing, The President and First Secretary urged the party to embrace its responsibility to lead the country using its own wisdom, culture, and resources. President Mnangagwa emphasized the importance of people-centered policies and unity of purpose in achieving prosperity for all Zimbabweans. The President then declared the meeting open for deliberations.
